Will my health insurance pay my complete bill?
Everyone has a responsibility to understand his or her health insurance. We will bill your insurance as a courtesy to you. Your insurance company may not cover all of your health care bills. Many insurance companies limit the amount they will pay for services by what is typically referred to as the UCR which stands for “Usual, Customary and Reasonable” (U&C) charges or fees. Insurance companies set their own U&C payment levels based on a variety of historical charge information and other considerations including their desire to hold down costs. If the insurance company does not pay the entire fee, you will receive a bill for the “balance due” from Ambulance Inc. of Laurel County.
Please refer to your policy manual or inquire with your employer or agent about your policy limitations and benefits.
Financial Information:
Fees – Many factors go into developing our fees. We are a Non-Profit Corporation and only receive about five percent of our yearly budget from the local government; therefore we must raise the additional funds necessary to operate from our patient billing. We strive to keep our fees as low as possible. Our fees are comparable for ambulance services in our surrounding area.
Financial Responsibility:
We wish to stress that financial responsibility for ambulance services rests with the patient or guardian. Regardless of your medical insurance coverage, our service relies on you for settling your account. If you pay a bill and your insurance company subsequently pays your claim, we will promptly refund any amount due. You are ultimately responsible for all fees relating to your care. If you need to make special arrangements for payment, please contact our business office.
Insurance Information:
Medicare / KY Medicaid / Private Insurance – We accept assignment for Medicare, KY Medicaid, and most insurance companies. Your claims will be filed for you. You are responsible for any deductibles and co-pays. Please let us know if your coverage is an alternate Medicare plan.
Workers Compensation – We will file a claim with your employer’s workers’ compensation carrier. Please be advised that if your employer or workers’ compensation carrier denies your claim, we will file a claim with your private insurance or bill you directly.
Authorization to Release Medical Information:
If you wish us to provide Protected Health Information (PHI) to your attorney
or an unaffiliated insurance company, your signed authorization must be sent
to our office.
HIPAA Compliance:
We take great care in protecting your privacy and the confidentiality of your
health records. Please see our Privacy Policy.
